Music Free

Rob Kovacs, aka 88bit, performs electrifying piano covers of NES (Nintendo) soundtracks from classic video games such as Castlevania and Mega Man 2 as well as unearthing music from lesser-known titles, bringing new life to some of the earliest examples of chiptune music.

Early Nintendo soundtracks were limited to essentially three channels and a noise channel. During gameplay, the music was performed by a soundchip inside the Nintendo. This soundchip was an absolute master of a musician and could flawlessly play virtually any pitch at any speed. Kovacs expertly recreates these classic themes, note-for-note and then some, stretching the limits of traditional piano playing.
