Elizabeth Catte

Our favorite local publisher is bringing a book talk to The Grog Shop, and we couldn't be happier about that.

Here's some deets from the event page:

Elizabeth Catte, author of What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia and Matthew Ferrence, author of Appalachia North will discuss their books on Friday, April 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Grog Shop, 2785 Euclid Hts Blvd. in Cleveland Heights.

What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia by Elizabeth Catte is a frank assessment of America’s recent fascination with the people and problems of the region. Catte analyzes trends in contemporary writing on Appalachia, presents a brief history of Appalachia with an eye toward unpacking Appalachian stereotypes, and provides examples of writing, art, and policy created by Appalachians as opposed to for Appalachians. The book offers a much-needed insider’s perspective on the region.
