Mixing Session: Women in the Cleveland Music Scene

2018 has seen a renewal in critical discussions about the treatment of women from which female performers and others in the music industry have largely been absent. The underrepresentation of women is a long-discussed issue highlighted most recently by criticism of the Grammys and of the Recording Academy’s CEO Neil Portnow comments that women need to “step up.”

In celebration of Women’s History Month, join Sixth City Sounds for a mixer and panel discussion on issues facing women in the Cleveland music scene.

Panelists include:

Brittany Benton, Co-Founder, Fresh By Nature Records, Owner-Operator, Brittanys Record Shop and DJ

Diana Chittester, Singer/Songwriter and Founder, Fighting Chance Records

Ariel Clayton, Violinist, Founder and Director, OPUS 216

Madeline Finn, Singer/Songwriter and Frontwoman, The Whiskey Hollow

Samantha Playne Jayne Flowers, Co-Founder, Fresh By Nature Records, and MC, FreshProduce.

This discussion will be moderated by Sixth City Sounds Co-Founder and Seafair Frontwoman Chayla Hope.

Sixth City Sound's Mixing Sessions serve as a chance for musicians and those in the music industry to network, socialize and discuss how we can all work together to form a stronger music community in Cleveland. Come ready to eat, drink, and discuss!
