The Snarky Poet:: a night of intersectional poetry

We’ve all suffered through reading or listening to poetry that was demeaning or ignorant. It’s time to revisit these canonical gems and perform them in the ways they were (unintentionally) always meant to be experienced: as satire.

Bring your favorite, most hateable poems by men, straights, white people, rich people, anybody you love to drag. Feel free to read it as it is, feel free to edit it into the poem you wish it was, feel free to interject eye rolls or profanity or insults to the writer’s intellect.

This is an experiment in recreating the canon through an intersectional lens. PLEASE drag something that is “beloved”. Anyone who drags Billy Collins, Robert Frost, or Walt Whitman will be my hero forever.

Suggested donation: $5. No one will be turned away.

Certain refreshments will be available by cash donation to our Books to Prisoners program.
